The Stephen Hawking Garden for Motor Neurone Disease
has been created for the 2010 RHS Chelsea Flower Show to raise awareness for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

It has been designed by Sue Hayward and is based on an idea by Martin Anderson MBE - one of the founder members of the MNDA.

It was built by landscapers Soar Valley Services - and volunteers from the East Midlands region

This garden follows on from the success enjoyed by the "MND Shetland Croft House Garden" - also designed by Sue Hayward - that attained a Gold Medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2008.
The Garden also won the 'BBC's Peoples Favourite Award' in the Small Gardens category.

“I’m honoured that A Brief History of Time has provided the inspiration for a garden that seeks to raise awareness of MND. I am looking forward to seeing the completed garden at Chelsea and especially intrigued to see how a black hole will be recreated.”
